HonestlyLondon

About HonestlyLondon

Why this site exists, who's behind it, and how we rate.

Why we're doing this

You spend 40 minutes Googling "things to do in London" and end up on a sponsored listicle that recommends the same three tourist traps. We thought we could do better.

HonestlyLondon exists because most London guides are either written for tourists, paid for by venues, or so generic they could apply to anywhere. Nobody asks the obvious question: is this actually worth your time — and your money?

That's the gap. We rate every place twice. Once for kids and families. Once for adults. Both honestly.

How we rate

Every venue gets two scores out of 10. Kids Rating is how good it is for families with children — fun factor, variety, novelty, age-fit. Adults Rating is what you'll think as a grown-up — value, atmosphere, whether locals would bother, sanity preservation. Plus Age Suitability, scored across five age bands so you can sort by what works for the kids you actually have.

Scores come from a mix of sources: aggregated review analysis (we read hundreds per venue so you don't have to), on-the-ground checks where we can, and feedback from London parents and locals. We're transparent when scores are based purely on review aggregation versus first-hand visits — you'll see a "Verified" badge on venues we've personally reviewed.

We don't take payment for placement. Featured venues are featured because they earn it — not because they bought a slot.

Who's behind it

Hi, I'm Georgia. I'm a parent of three kids — 3, 6, and 10 — living in London. HonestlyLondon exists because I got tired of bad weekends and overhyped days out.

Right now it's a small operation: me, a small editorial team, and strong opinions about which museums are worth the queue, which parks actually have decent toilets, and which "family attractions" are just gift shops with extra steps.

We cover London only — neighbourhoods, attractions, and experiences across the city. Doing one place properly beats doing the UK badly.
