The long read worth saving for nap time
What’s it actually like?
Adventure Play in Egham is a large, wooden adventure playground with plenty of climbing, bridges, paths and slides, including a few quirky ones such as glass slides and a roller-style slide. It also has a toddler area, sand pit, toilets and a coffee shop, and sits next to Virginia Water Park. The big win here is how much thought has gone into the design. Parents liked that children could run off and explore while still being easy to keep an eye on, and several reviews praised the family toilets, baby change and generally safe feel. It sounds like a genuinely engaging place rather than just a pile of timber and a fence. The downsides are the usual suspects: it is expensive, can feel busy with older children charging about, and the food offering sounds fairly limited rather than destination-worthy. It also seems best as a 2-hour visit rather than an all-day affair, which is fair enough if you like your playground trips with a built-in exit strategy.
